  • Do you offer eye tests?

Yes we do - in our new store we have a dedicated room for eye tests. BOOK NOW

  • How much does an Eye Test Cost?
    • £30 for a regular eye test (recommended for most)
    • £60 for a contact lens test
    • £80 for a full eye test
  • How long does an eye test last at FINLAY?

30-45 minutes for a regular eye test and up to an hour for a contact lens test.

  • How often should I have an eye test?

It is suggested that you should have your eyes tested every two years, even if you feel that you are not aware of any problems. It might be suggested by your optometrist that you have your eyes tested more frequently if you:

    • have diabetes
    • are aged 40 or over and have a family history of glaucoma
    • are aged 70 or over
    • are a child wearing glasses
  • Do you offer eye tests for children?

We can offer eye tests for children, however, our current range of frames don’t cater for smaller sizes, so we’d suggest children have their eyes tested elsewhere.

Once a child is 5 years old, they are entitled to a free NHS eye test. These tests are free up until the age of 16 and for those in full time education up to the age of 19.

  • Do you offer contact lens tests?

It is not currently possible to book contact lens eye tests through the website. If this is something you require please call the store on 0207 734 0321

  • Do I have to book an eye test in Advance?

It is best to book in advance. Occasionally there might be an appointment available on the day, but it’s best to check availability and in advance and book online

  • Should my employer pay for my glasses now I use a computer?

If you find that using a Visual Display Unit (VDU) is an integral part of your work, then your employer is obliged to provide an eye test free of charge. However, your employer only needs to pay for a basic pair of glasses if it you only need glasses for VDU use.

  • Do I have to do anything special before an eye exam?

Bring your current glasses or contact lenses and take a note of any prescription medication that you are taking. It’s also worth thinking if you’ve noticed a change with your eyes since your last test

  • Do I need an eye test if I've been for a contact lens check up?

Yes - contact lens check-ups look at the front surface of the eye and don’t measure the health of the inner and outer parts of your eye, so it’s worth booking in for a regular eye test too.

  • I have an eye test from another optometrist practice - can I use this prescription when buying frames from Finlay London?

Yes - as long as your eye test was within the last two years and your prescription has been signed by the testing optometrist, we can use this when creating your new frames.

  • If my vision is fine, do I need a regular eye test?

Yes - an eye test can highlight conditions that affect both your vision and your wider health. It’s suggested that you have an eye test at least every two years.
